About
About
The Impact First office is a coworking space in central London for people working on projects with the potential for large-scale positive impact. We aim to create value for our community by providing a productive environment for charitable and high-impact work, and by facilitating new connections and collaborations. The space also hosts our own programmes and events, as well as those run by partner organisations, including Arcadia Impact, who founded the space and now support Impact First as a funded infrastructure project.
We support people working on AI safety, biosecurity, global health, and animal welfare, alongside many other high-impact cause areas, some of which are listed here. Many of our users are part of the effective altruism community, which focuses on how we can do the most good with limited resources.

About the programme
Fellows meet once per week for a structured discussion session facilitated by trained facilitators or guest speakers. Before each session, participants complete a curated set of readings, podcasts, or short exercises.
Fellows are expected to dedicate 2-4 hours per week to readings and activities, in addition to attending the weekly session.

Applying
Applying
When assessing membership applications, we consider the impact of your current work, your career plans, and the extent to which you would benefit from using the office.
For permanent membership, we typically expect applicants to be working at a non-profit or charitable organisation, or independently on a charitable project. Students are welcome to apply, and we usually look for a demonstrated interest in addressing high-impact issues, for example through part-time projects or participation in one of our student programmes.
If you're unsure whether you meet these guidelines, we still encourage you to apply.
After the written application, we may invite you to a short interview to discuss your work in more detail. We normally aim to reply within one week and provide a decision within two weeks, though timelines can vary.

Visitor: You are in London for less than ~2 months and do not expect to be based here afterward.
If you want to visit for a short-time such as a few days, we suggest submitting our application form as a visitor. To visit as a guest you must have an invite from an office member, or Impact First staff.
